Your Special Day

Hopefully getting married is the event of the century for you. You have hoped, planned, and waited for your special day to arrive. Maybe you’ve had time to accumulate dreams of beautiful decorations or ice sculptures. Perhaps your dream day involves exotic foods and themes from distant lands. Whatever your hopes and aspirations include, choosing the right wedding planner can make all the difference. This is your day (and your honey’s) to shine like you never have before!

Searching for the Right Wedding Planner

When you have a head filled with wedding dreams it’s best to hire a professional whose very life is based on weddings. You want to be free to enjoy your day when it arrives. Searching for the right wedding planner is a crucial piece of the puzzle that can land the rest of the pieces directly into place. When you interview wedding planners it is a decisions of the heart. Here are some things to look for in the right wedding planner for you:

- Someone who loves weddings and is passionate about what they do

- A wedding planner who is strong and can take charge, but is still sensitive enough to take your hopes, dreams, and ideas into account

- A person who seems to have a network of several people to call for ideas in: cakes, photography, halls for the receptions, caterers, floral shops, bridal shops, jewelry stores, invitation designers, professional decorators, disc jockeys/entertainers, travel agencies, and people for unique wedding themes.

- Make sure the person has a sense of organization and purpose in their work

- It may be important to choose someone whose personality is a fit for you. You will be depending on this person to orchestrate the perfect day. The likeability factor does come into play.

- Someone who can give you fairly accurate estimates of how much things will cost

- A good wedding planner will have pictures, testimonials, or references you can draw upon to see their past work.

- This person should have a high-level of energy and excitement about your wedding the same as you do.

- Someone who is flexible and can easily shift gears when necessary

- Find out who helps them or fills in for them in their absence

It’s best to follow your gut feeling or since we’re talking love, follow your heart. When you meet with your wedding planner you should get a pretty good feeling about their personality and ability to help you plan the perfect wedding. You know what is said about first impressions, if you remember this it will make it easier to follow your heart on the matter.

As Your Day Approaches

A professional wedding planner is savvy at helping brides and grooms to remain calm during the wedding planning process. They will work to alleviate your fears and help you feel in control of the process. A terrific wedding planner takes the whole family’s feeling into account on matters when planning. They will remain open to what you want. If it can’t be done they will let you know in a positive manner, but will suggest several alternatives to make you happy. They should be able to organize the music at the church, the decorating of the church and reception hall, and will teach you and the bridal party how to walk down the aisle appropriately. Wedding planners who love their job take a great deal of pride and time with their work. They are often perfectionists that use their attention to detail and organizational skills to coordinate everything down to the finest details.

Not Just Wedding Photographers In Toronto

Friday, December 18th, 2009

You wouldn’t believe what my family had been through last month while preparing for the wedding of my youngest sister. Just when we thought we had everything prepared from my sister’s bridal gown, invites, catering service, reception area, wedding band, flowers, down to the wedding favors, we all felt whacked on the head with an aluminum pan when we realized we had not booked a photographer yet.

It’s not that none of us had done wedding photography in Toronto. I personally love to take pictures and have actually posed as photographer on some friend or cousin’s wedding but not on my sister’s wedding. You see, my sister’s a professional model, very prominent and her guest list was comprised of distinguished figures from the fashion and entertainment industry so naturally, our family only wanted the best photographer for her on her very special day. As my parents and sisters rummaged through the yellow pages for renowned wedding photographers in Toronto, I stuck my nose online hoping to stumble on a good company but all I saw were photography jobs in Ontario. Duh, I wasn’t in search of a job I thought in distress.

In the process of searching, I came across this company in Ontario which offers spray tanning. Wait a minute I thought. I’ve been longing to try this thing for the longest time but I really can’t find time to research for the best company that offers it. Maybe my family won’t mind if I linger on this website for a while and so I did.

As I went to the services pages of the website, I was surprised to find out that it houses the famous makeup artist in Ontario. Wow, I think I would want to avail her service instead of the celebrity makeup artist who’s doing my little sister’s face and hair. Besides, I’m pretty my sister wouldn’t appreciate sharing the same look and hairstyle with her older sister what on her wedding day!

I was jotting down the contact details of the company as indicated on its website when I suddenly felt the pangs of guilt because the entire household was busy looking for a photographer while here I was simply out for self-gratification. I was about to close the website when I noticed on the services page that it offers mobile and in studio photography services. Is this website heaven sent or what?

I immediately contacted the company and voila! In just a matter of five minutes I was able to book the best photographer in Ontario for the wedding of the year.

Now as my parents and other siblings sit in the living room recalling last month’s events, we can’t help but feel proud of the work we have accomplished.

How To Critique Photography

Monday, December 7th, 2009

To capture a good photo you must be aware of basic photographic techniques and methods. If you are a professional photographer you probably have a whole range of photographic skills. But to critique photography, there are no hard and fast rules that you need to follow. If you want to be good at photography critique then you don’t need to know the technical methods of photography. All you need to have is an eye for details and the flair for writing to get your opinion across to the readers. You need to say what you feel about a certain photo and comment on it, to help the photographer improve on his work. But there are certain steps which will help you to excel in this job.

Tips to critique a photo

Analyzing the photo:

Critics are generally not meant only to securitize a particular subject; but they provide valuable comments on a particular matter. A photography critique should analyze the image, look into the details of the theme and the critic should then offer his comments on the work. If it is a piece of excellent photography with obvious errors in it, as a critic you should talk about why the photo is flawless. If not it is necessary to focus on the aspects of the photographs that can be improved – such as composition, depth of colour and where the photo fails to impress emotionally.

Now, you can only become a good critique when your comments get enough exposure and eventually you get recognized for your ability as a critic. You should publish your comments on certain platforms which are widely and regularly visited by photography enthusiasts. Here are some good

places to start:

Photo forums

Online Photography forums are the most popular platform to get better exposure. Many photographers post their photos on forums to invite comments. If you visit photography forums that has a gallery, then you will get to view comments from professional photographers and photography critiques – giving out their views on the featured photos. Various tips and advice is also discussed on photo forums to improve a particular photo. These tips might help you to judge the photo, which you want to critique.

In forums, various queries put by photography enthusiasts are also answered. Once you are registered to a photography forum you are free to post your views and ideas on the featured photos. Photography forums are also a great source of inspiration, so if you are a budding amateur, or want to be a gallery owner or an art critic they this is a good place to start!

Camera Clubs

Local camera clubs are also a good way to start learning and commenting on photography – as well as meeting new people. Visit your local community center for more information on this or google for camera clubs within your local area.

Photo Sharing Websites

Several websites offer you the option of uploading and sharing your photos. A lot of them offer free disk space for you to upload your own photos which others can comment on. You can post your suggestions on the galleries of photos uploaded by fellow amateur photographers and can normally reply to their views and tastes. Reading through other’s views can also help you to enhance your skills and improve your photography critique.

Hopefully, these are a few tips, which can help you to turn your comments into an excellent photography critique and get you on your way to becoming a good art critic.
